Word 2003 document automatic paragraph numbering

Documents that had functional automatic paragraph numbering in Word 2003 will not work in Word 2013, copying ad pasting the numbered paragraphs copies the numbers rather than incrementing.

Solution: Click on a level 1 paragraph and right click on the style and select 'Update style to Match Selection'.
