The Idler's Decathlon
The Idler's Decathlon
The 4th to 8th of July 2016 was declared Activity Week in work and we were to try out new forms of activity for health and fitness. I had a think and come up with not just enough for one every day, but enough for a fortnight.
With a further handful of suggestions from Open University students, I can now present, The Idler's Decathlon:
- Bending your elbow.
- Pushing your luck.
- Swinging the lead.
- Running a book.
- Jumping the gun.
- Leaping to conclusions.
- Skipping the hard parts.
- Throwing a spanner in the works.
- Kicking your heels.
- Back-pedalling rapidly.
Plus the following bonus demonstration events:
- Running a temperature.
- Climbing the walls.
- Shooting one's mouth off.
- Wrestling with one's conscience
- Putting your foot in your mouth.
So there's enough suggestions to keep you going for three weeks. :-)
A consultant to the Civil Service have provided a couple more:
- Rocking the boat.
- Flagging things up.
