Web site statistics

This is about tools for providing statistics on accessing a web site. Such statistics are called 'web stats' (website access statistics) and the tools for displaying them are called 'web stats tools'.

What they do

They read the access log files for the web site and present the information in a readable way. They do not create their mechanism for capturing access details.

Examples

As at 11/02/2017, my hosting company, HostPost, provides two web stats tools: AWStats and Webalizer.

AWStats

AWStats Graphical Statistics
Version 7.6
AWStats is powerful log analyzer which creates advanced web, ftp, mail and streaming server statistics reports based on the rich data contained in server logs. Data is graphically presented in easy to read web pages. Designed with flexibility in mind, AWStats can be run through a web browser CGI (common gateway interface) or directly from the operating system command line.

I have given AWStats its own page.

Webalizer

Webalizer Graphical Statistics
Version 2.01
Webalizer is a highly detailed and easily configurable web site statistics package that analyses the access log files that we automatically create for your website.

I have given Webalizer its own page.
