Having found the new algorithm unlocking code (Google it), you will find none of the downloadable software actually sees your device. It turns out you don't need any of it. Instead put in a SIM for a different network so that it displays "SIM Lock". Then point your browser at 

http://192.168.1.1/html/simlockrequired.html

and you will be prompted to enter the code.

Voila!

Once it is unlocked, you will not be able to access that URl again.
